Tear Trough Treatment

Tear troughs, is the area under your lower eyelid and upper cheek, may appear dark or sunken, and may become more prominent with age. Under-eye fillers can help fill out the area, but there are some risks.

The tear trough is a deep crease between the lower eyelid and the upper cheek. Sometimes it can cast shadows under your eyes, resulting in a tired appearance. Some people think that their tear troughs make them look older.

In some individuals, tear troughs are an inherited trait. In other cases, tear trough become more visible with age. This is because facial tissues lose volume as you age.

The goal of tear trough filling is to reduce the depth of the tear trough. Injecting dermal filler into the area, making the skin appear fuller and tighter. It is a non-surgical method of facial rejuvenation.

Tear trough filler is an injectable treatment used under the eyes. Its purpose is to add volume under the eyelids.

The most used product in this area is one typically made with hyaluronic acid, although other ingredients can be used. Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like substance that is naturally found in your body.

When injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid increases plumpness and reduces indentations.

Are tear trough fillers safe?

Tear trough fillers are relatively safe. It is also less invasive than tear trough surgeries, which involve fat grafting and repositioning.

The idea of performing under-eye treatment may confuse many people, especially since it is a complex area. Therefore, it is important to understand the risks and complications involved, and which fillers are safe to use under the eyes. Therefore, it is important, to be performed and treated by experienced practitioners.

Dermal fillers used specifically for the under-eye area are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance already found in the human body. When introduced into our bodies, fillers increase fullness and reduce under-eye indentations.

Because the under-eye area is complex, it carries the same risk of necrosis as your lips, and this occurs when the injection accidentally enters an artery, causing premature death. Other complications and side effects of treatment can include headache, allergic reaction, oedema (swelling), formation of fillings into masses, vascular side effects, and in very rare cases blindness due to central retinal artery occlusion. This is very rare, so it is important to make sure you are in safe and experienced hands.

The benefit of hyaluronic acid is that it can be easily dissolved with a natural enzyme called hyaluronidase (also found in our bodies). This can be used to dissolve fillers for those who don’t like the result or want to reduce the amount under the eyes. If serious complications occur, the filler can be dissolved to prevent further risks.

The effects of tear trough fillers are only temporary. They last about one year for most people. You will need frequent treatments to maintain long-term results.
