What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are one of the most common types of dermal fillers. One of the most attractive facial features is the lips. Full, well-defined lips can be associated with youth and beauty. Lip filler treatment, also known as lip augmentation, is a non-surgical procedure suitable for anyone who wants to add volume and definition to the lips, as well as correct the proportion and symmetry of the lips. Over time, our lips go through normal skin changes, with a gradual loss of lip volume, texture and shape.
During a lip filler procedure, we will apply topical anaesthetic to your lips. The topical anaesthetic will numb your lips, so you won’t feel any pain and the process is as comfortable as possible. About 15 to 30 minutes later, your lips should be numb.
Lip fillers are made of synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA) – HA is a natural substance in your body.
Dermal fillers fill targeted areas. It works by attracting and binding to water molecules in the skin. it is supports, moisturize and stimulate collagen and elastin. With the lip filler treatment, we aim to achieve volume, hydration, definition, balance and symmetry.
There are many different brands of lip fillers. The results are instant and last approximately 6 months, whereby the filler gets broken down gradually by the body, allowing it to go back to its original shape.
This varies from person to person as it all depends on the individuals age, metabolic rate and other lifestyle factors.
